Charlie's Befriending Services

We provide a text message or email service for anyone looking for company or support through a tough situation or time in their life. It could be that something devastating has occurred in someone's life, they just want a chat to help with loneliness, advice or that something good has happened and they just want someone to talk to about it. We are all ears! This is an option for people who may struggle with face-to-face situations or may want to remain private.  

For people who aren’t confident with the use of technology or meeting others, we also offer a Pen pal service. After an initial phone call, we can arrange for letters to be collected and shared between customers that may have similar interests and situations. The service, like all the others, are available for anyone going through any situation. The letters are collected and passed on to another client of the pen pal service, we include check in calls with this service to ensure clients are happy with who they have been partnered with and the process of writing the letters. If required, a befriending member of staff can also be present with the customer to write the letter with them. 

We provide regular phone calls to check in on people who feel they may need someone to vent to once a month, or if they just need someone weekly to call and make sure they are okay. We provide that. This service can be beneficial to people who are unsure of committing to a befriending service but would like some company. We would have an initial meeting to decide how regular and how long the calls need to be, then during the meeting, we may also decide on an end goal to reach. 

We not only offer at home support, we also provide packages that include going for walks with customers (even with their pets as well) to ensure they get their daily bit of fresh air and have a chance to get away from life and talk about what may be on their minds or what they may be going through. Or a walk to the shops, the park, wherever the customer may want to go. 

We believe in celebrating equality and diversity and understand that not everyone is as accepting as they should be, and this can be harmful for a lot of people. Therefore, we provide a service that supports people of any age struggling with coming to terms with who they are or the environment around them. This service includes calls, texts and visits to discuss the issues the customer is facing and how best to support them moving forward. 

We are open to receiving new ideas at any time and will be regularly hosting activities with staff and customers to keep customers motivated to reach their goals and staff motivated within the work they do daily. Some of these activities may include a book club, hosting bake sales and possibly days out, in the future. We aim to help our customers socialise with each other and live the life they want to live. We aim to include volunteers from the local community to share stories and learn about experiences others go through.
